Hercules Offshore owns the largest shallow-water jackup rig drilling fleet in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and the fourth largest jackup fleet worldwide.  In addition, we also operate the world’s largest inland barge drilling fleet. 

Expanding our geographic footprint has been a fundamental element in our business strategy.  We have a growing presence in the international offshore arena with multiple rigs on contract in regions such as India, Malaysia, the Middle East, the Far East and West Africa.

Our fleet of 38 jackup rigs are capable of working in water depths ranging from nine to 350 feet deep and have the ability to drill to maximum water depths ranging from 15,000 to 25,000 feet. 

There are 13 posted and conventional barge drilling rigs in our inland barge fleet, which is the largest in the world.  Our barge drilling fleet is capable of working in water depths ranging from seven to 20 feet.

Shallow Water Energy Security Coalition

Hercules Offshore and several other shallow water service providers formed the Shallow Water Energy Security Coalition shortly after the administration declared a moratorium on offshore drilling. The Coalition's goal is educate policymakers and the general public about our business, including the industry's impressive record of safety and environmental responsibility, as well as the importance of drilling in shallow water to the economy and the security of U.S. energy.
