Rig Fleet – Unparalleled Versatility in Shallow-Water
Drilling
Hercules Offshore owns a fleet of 38 jackup
drilling rigs capable of operating in water depths from nine
to 350 feet. The majority of our fleet is able to drill
as deep as 20,000 feet and the Hercules 350 is able
to drill up to 25,000 feet. The versatility of our rigs
enables us to meet the full spectrum of customer requirements. We
operate the U.S. Gulf of Mexico’s only 200 foot workover and
completion rig as well as a 2,000-horsepower Big Foot III rig,
capable of working in water as shallow as nine feet. Hercules
170, an independent leg cantilever jackup, is capable
of working in water depths from 16 feet to 170 feet. Hercules
260, a jackup rig with a 250 foot water depth capability,
has been upgraded to include increased variable deck load,
hook load capacity, the addition of a third mud pump and expanded
living quarters, thus enabling the unit to competitively operate
internationally.

Barge Fleet – Mobile drilling platforms that
are submersible
Hercules Offshore owns a fleet of 13 barge
drilling rigs. The units are mobile drilling platforms
that are submersible and are built to work in seven to 20 feet
of water. They are towed by tugboats to the drill site with
the derrick lying down. The lower hull is then submerged by
flooding compartments until it rests on the river or sea floor.
The derrick is then raised and drilling operations are conducted
with the barge resting on the bottom. Our barge drilling fleet
consists of conventional and posted barge rigs. A posted barge
is identical to a conventional barge except that the hull and
superstructure are separated by 10 to 14 foot columns, which
increases the water depth capabilities of the rig. Most of
our barge drilling rigs are suitable for deep gas drilling
up to 30,000 feet.

Liftboat Fleet – A Diversified Fleet of Liftboats
with Varying Crane Capabilities
Hercules Offshore owns a fleet of 64 self-contained liftboats
in a full range of vessel classes. Compared with traditional
pipelay/derrick vessels, our liftboats offer superior service
at competitive, cost-effective rates. Our liftboats provide
versatile work platforms for a variety of offshore services
including:
- Coiled tubing and wireline operations
- Construction
- Well intervention
- Driving support
- Living quarters
- Platform services, such as inspection, maintenance, removal,
abandonment and decommissioning
Our liftboat fleet is capable of providing services for customers
across the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and internationally with similar
depth and bottom conditions.
